NOVA Roller Derby's motto is Skate Hard - Give back. Now in our sixth year, we continue our mission to give back to our community. In past years year we were able to assist several outstanding, community organizations. We have partnered with some of these organizations in previous years but we continue to help new organizations every year.
We collected used clothes and gift cards to help Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, a private, non-profit organization that provides help and assistance to adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in Loudoun County, Virginia. They offer many services to victims including counseling, legal services, support groups, parenting classes, advocacy, and community outreach and seek to empower victims of domestic and sexual violence
We collected puzzles to support The Aurora School. Located in Leesburg, they serve students 2-22 years old with autism, developmental delay, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, other health impairments, severe disabilities, speech language impairment, and traumatic brain injury. They provide education that is a viable option for students who are unable to reach their potential in the public school system or in a traditional classroom setting.
We collected no-slip or martingale collars in all sizes, collars, nylon leashes (non-retractable type), blankets, towels, and/or dog or cat beds to help this great cause. Lost Dog and Cat Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue organization that saves lives of homeless and abandoned pets. They rescue dogs and cats from threatening situations and place them in loving homes for adoption, as well provide vaccinations and spaying or neutering.
We collected gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations, etc to assist Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation, a local organization that provides non-medical, supportive care to children with cancer, and their families in the Washington, DC Metro area. Stillbrave makes all the difference in these children’s lives and NOVA Roller Derby is honored to help Stillbrave help children with cancer fight the toughest battle of their lives.
